Are you looking for an unforgettable way to celebrate Memorial Day? If so, come to the United Presbyterian Church at 25 Church Street in Cortland at 3 PM on Sunday, May 24 for a unique event. Sanctuary Seasonings and The Arts at Grace are collaborating to present THE CHILDREN OF THE GREATEST GENERATION paying tribute to their parents… For nearly a year and a half, well-known local organist Paulette Fry gathered stories and photos from area residents to discover how they and their families experienced the Great Depression and World War II.

The multi-media script Fry created will be presented on the 24th by children of the story tellers. Interwoven with the anecdotes will be live music from the era. Well-known area artists, including baritone Steven Stull, bass-baritone David Neal, and jazz artist Peter Chwazik and friends will perform. To conclude the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War, Stephen Wilson will conduct a choral performance of Howard Hanson’s Song of Democracy with Paulette Fry at the organ.

There is no charge for admission, but donations are welcome. A reception will follow the program.
